Double murder accused, Kapil Gangadin was sentenced to three years in jail today after pleading guilty to escape from lawful custody.

Last Thursday, Gangadin made a dash for his freedom from the Lusignan jail but he was recaptured on Friday after he was recognised in a mini-bus despite getting a haircut and removing his beard and mustache.

The 24-year-old man is expected back in Court this month for the continuation of the two murder cases that landed him behind bars.

He is accused of stabbing a young businessman to death two weeks ago during a robbery and is also facing a murder charge for the death of a fisherman who was also killed during a robbery more than a year ago.

When he was recently arrested, he was found with the belongings of the young businessman who was killed at his father’s East Coast Demerara store.
