Ex-PNC/R Treasurer seeks to withdraw resignation

Less than a month after he tendered his resignation as the Treasurer of the People’s National Congress, party executive member, Faaiz Mursaline is seeking to recall his resignation and be allowed to continue in the position.

In a letter to the party’s Central Executive Committee on Monday, Mr. Mursaline stated that “on reflection and an understanding of the reasons for those who encouraged me to resign as Treasurer of our party, I wish to withdraw my resignation as Treasurer of our party”.

He said he is fully supportive of the People’s National Congress and and wants to carry out the mandate of the treasurer.

Mursaline recently met and held discussions with the Leader of the PNC Reform.

This morning, Mursaline confirmed the withdrawal of his resignation and told News Source that while party members may have differences on various issues, he believes those differences can be addressed internally, and he therefore wants to continue his work as the Treasurer of the party.

“I think the grievances of the party, and everybody has issues and problems in any political party but the grievances must be settled internally…And I have to work with the best interest of the party and so I do not take its time for me to leave as yet”, Mursaline told News Source.

The Leader of the PNC Reform, Aubrey Norton confirmed that the party has received the request from the former Treasurer for his resignation to be withdrawn. Norton said the Central Executive of the party will have to deliberate on the matter.

In a note following his resignation, Mursaline leveled a number of claims and concerns about the party’s financial management and also said there was some racial hostility leveled against him by a party member and the matter was not addressed.

Last week, the PNC Leader said those complaints were never made to him.
