Family members of the Linden nurse who was found hanging in a Mahdia Hostel are concerned that days after a post mortem examination was conducted on the woman’s remains, the results are still to be made known to the family.
The 26-year-old nurse, Schenise Apple, was attached to the Mahdia Hospital and stayed at the community hostel while she worked in the gold mining town.
Her body was discovered last Tuesday in her living quarters hanging from a window grill. Family members have said other marks of violence were discovered on her body and her father is convinced that the young woman did not take her own life.
“My daughter did not commit suicide. I am sure of that and even if I want to give everyone else looking at the case a 5%, I am keeping that 95% and I know that she did not take her own life”, the emotional father, Dexter Copeland told News Source.
He explained that the family is very suspicious of the young woman’s death, but there is not much he would like to say at this time, while he is still in shock.
Mr. Copeland said the family has not been hearing much from the investigating Police officers, but he is surprised and disappointed in some of the statements that have been attributed to the Commanding Officer in the region that have appeared in the media.
The family wants a full scale investigation into the death of the young nurse. Family members have said that on the same day that she died she was making plans with relatives to go shopping. They are convinced that the scene of her death may have been staged.
The probe is ongoing.
