Investigators at Guyana’s Customs Anti Narcotics Unit are preparing to file charges against a 30-year-old Guyanese man who was busted on Thursday evening with cocaine in milk packets.

The man would have been a first time traveler to the United States. Agents of CANU became suspicious after noticing several packets of what appeared to be powdered milk in the man’s suitcases.

A closer examination revealed that the Kerrygold milk packets were resealed with cocaine instead of vitamin rich milk.

The outgoing passenger was immediately arrested after the tests confirmed that it was indeed cocaine in the milk powder packets.

Over 10 pounds of the illegal drug made up the several packets in the man’s possession.  Charges are expected to be filed shortly.

In July of last year, a British woman was busted at the same Cheddi Jagan Airport with cocaine in Kerrygold milk packets.

CANU has been stepping up its monitoring of outgoing passengers at the Cheddi Jagan Airport and other ports of entry.
