Five persons have been taken into custody as Police investigators continue their probe into the gunning down of Albouystown youth, Christopher Mansfield.

A sixth suspect is being sought.

The 18-year-old was shot dead early Sunday morning in Albouystown, while he was on his way to a street football match.

His mother said it was just before 7am, when she received the news that her son had been shot. By the time she rushed over to the Georgetown Hospital, doctors had already pronounced the youth dead.

The young man’s aunt, Vanessa Mansfield, told News Source that she is unaware of any issue that her nephew might have had with anyone. The family, she said, remains in a state of shock and disbelief.

An official police release said the young man was cornered by the suspects who were on bicycles and armed with cutlasses, knives and a gun.

According to the Police statement, he was shot twice to the right side abdomen, but collapsed while running from the scene.

It is unclear what triggered the attack, but the four suspects are being grilled.
