Former Accountant in charge of payable at One Communications, Quincy Baird, appeared in Court this morning charged with the alleged theft of just over $153.9 Million from the telecommunications company.

The 37-year-old who now operates and manages a photography company appeared before the Acting Chief Magistrate this morning, where he was charged with the office of Larceny by Clerk or Servant.

Baird was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was granted bail in the sum of $1 Million.

The Guyana Police Force in a statement said the matter was adjourned to Wednesday February 11, 2026.

As part of the bail conditions, Baird is required to lodge his passport with the Court, have no contact with any employee from One Communications Guyana, and report every second Friday of the month to the CID Headquarters.

The alleged theft reportedly dates back to more than three years ago and is alleged to have taken place over a period.
