The Guyana Elections Commission has announced that it has started an administrative process to ensure that electors are placed within their correct divisions for voting.
The move comes after it was realized that some of the information for voters on the Revised List of Electors did not reflect changes that were made by persons during the house to house registration exercise.
In a statement last evening, GECOM said failure to conduct this “necessary exercise” could result in electors being displaced and unable to vote at a polling station in their area.
The Commission said it will “will ensure that the name of every registered eligible elector is properly accounted for on the Official List of Electors”
It added that the Revised List of Electors has been posted for public scrutiny and electors are urged to check and verify their information at locations in their respective areas or on the GECOM’s website.
The Commission has also dismissed statements by the opposition PPP that the National Register of Registrants was being tampered with.
The Elections Commission said the statement is baseless and designed to cause confusion in the public domain.
The Revised Voters List has been published across the country and is also available online on the GECOM website.
