Grandparents and Uncle in custody over murder of drunk West Coast Demerara man; Mazaruni Farmer murdered during row

According to a Police statement, the murder of the unemployed man occurred between 01:30hrs and 05:30hrs. It was revealed that investigators discovered marks of violence around the decease’s neck and an autopsy revealed that he died from compression injuries to the neck.

Three persons are currently in Police custody after 30-year-old Jason Rejendra Lall Hiria, was found murdered in his lot 76 Sixth Street, Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home this morning.

According to a Police statement, the murder of the unemployed man occurred between 01:30hrs and 05:30hrs. It was revealed that investigators discovered marks of violence around the decease’s neck and an autopsy revealed that he died from compression injuries to the neck.

The victim’s grandfather revealed to investigators that he (the victim) is an alcoholic, who went home about 01:30hrs intoxicated, and was discovered seated motionless on an inside toilet about 05:30hrs. There was no sign of forced entry into the home, the Police revealed.

Three persons have been taken into custody including the grand-parents and an uncle of the victim.

Meanwhile, in Ammokopai Village, Upper Mazaruni River, Herman Leman, 23, a farmer succumbed to stab wounds to the abdomen inflicted by Terry Federicks, 18, another farmer who resides at the same place.

It is alleged that the incident occurred at in the village about 16:00hrs on Sunday during a physical confrontation between the two. Leman succumbed to his injuries this morning at the Kamarang Regional Hospital.

The suspect, who was also stabbed in the back by the deceased’s brother, is nursing injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and is said to be in a critical condition whilst his accuser is detained.

The body of Leman is presently at the Kamarang Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
