Narcotics Police Officers based at the Ogle International Airport arrested a 60-year-old Guyanese woman on Sunday afternoon after she was found with a quantity of cocaine and marijuana in her suitcases.
The woman was preparing to board a flight to Barbados when the bust was made. According to a police report, the 60-year-old was found with just over 10 pounds of cocaine and close to 9 pounds of marijuana hidden in her luggage.
She was immediately arrested and will be charged early in the new week.
Police officers have not released the woman’s name as they continue their investigations. Sources close to the probe have pointed out that a number of persons including relatives of the woman are to be questioned about the illegal substances.
There have been a number of attempts to ferry cocaine through the Ogle Airport.
