A lightning strike along the Linden Soesdyke Highway has severely damaged several GT&T cables and service equipment, leaving a communication black out in the mining town of Linden and several other communities.
All GT&T land line, cellphones and internet services have been affected by the disruption. The disruption was first discovered on Sunday morning. A number of other areas have also been affected including Mahdia in Region 8.
A GT&T Official told News Source that engineers were on the scene “doing their best” to remedy the situation.
Over the past few weeks, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have drenched several parts of the country including the East Bank Demerara corridor and the Linden Soesdyke Highway.
