The vacation spot for a Guyanese woman has changed and she will now face charges for cocaine trafficking after being busted at the Cheddi Jagan airport with 1.5 pounds of cocaine hidden in a straw bag that she was carrying.
The 26-year-old woman was about to board a New York bound flight when the bust was made on Sunday by agents of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit.
She was traveling on a visitors visa and is a former employee of a local call centre.
If found guilty of the drug trafficking charge, the vacation seeker could find her destination being the woman’s prison for up to four years.
CANU has been stepping up its drug fighting efforts and has seen increased success at the two airports.
