Guyanese man charged in New Jersey sex assault case

A 29-year-old Guyanese man living in New Jersey has been charged in Essex County on one count of sex assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to U.S court documents, Former Linden barber Keon Elexey was booked on Monday  in Essex County, New Jersey after being arrested. The  incident allegedly took place on Sunday and involved a minor between the ages of 13 and 16 years old, with the defendant being older than the victim by  more than four years.

The defendant is being held on US$150,000 bail. There are very few additional details being provided about the case. The young man migrated to the United States just over a year ago.

News Source understands that he has denied all the charges and believes he is being “set up” by a relative he lived at when he first moved to the United States.

The case is expected to be called up again before the end of the week.
