Police in West Palm Beach, Florida are investigating the murder of a Guyanese man who lived in the area and was discovered dead last Friday.

Thirty-one year old, Michael Sears was reported missing on August 28. His body was found on Friday, September 4, 2015 in a lake close to his house in West Palm Beach. According to reports, the body bore several gunshot wounds.

His brother Dellon Sears told reporters in Florida that “I just can’t imagine that someone took Mike away, and not just from his immediate family but from all of us.”

The two brothers were best friends and Dellon Sears is trying to figure out who would have wanted his brother dead and for what reason.

“He was real friendly. He’s one of those people who has that smile that’s inviting, that brings you to him”, he was quoted as saying.

Michael Sears was married and had two young daughters. No arrests have been made in the case but the death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy.

In a statement, the Palm Beach County Sheriff office said “we are diligently investigating who killed Michael Sears and if anyone has information about the homicide death of Michael Sears they are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.”

The brother Dellon Sears told a Florida TV station that  he hopes investigators find the person or people responsible for killing his brother.

“It’s not so much for them to pay for what they did to Mike, but going forward, that they’re not allowed to do this to someone else’s family,” Dellon Sears said.
