A Guyanese family in Brooklyn is desperately searching for their 16-year-old son, who has been missing since August 28.

The young man has been identified as Ryan Matthews. He moved to Brooklyn from Guyana along with a brother just over a year ago.

The family spent the labour day holiday weekend posting flyers all over the Brooklyn area and on the subway as they sought the public’s help.

The teen reportedly left home at 4pm on August 28 for his usual afternoon run, but never returned home. New York media houses are reporting that he was wearing nike sneakers and had his wallet and a backpack when he left his home.

The young man was going to run at the Highland Park which is located a mile away from where he lived.

Family members have been quoted as saying that he has no history of running away from home and would let his family know of his whereabouts whenever he is out of the house.
