Guyanese woman found murdered in Queens NY home; husband discovered hanging in New York park

A Guyanese woman is New York City’s first murder victim for the year.

The 26-year-old mother of two has been identified as Stacy Singh who lived in Queens New York. She was found on New Year’s Day in her house with multiple stab wounds to her body.

The woman’s husband, 46 year old Vinny Looknauth, was found hanging from a tree in a New York city park, moments after her body was found in the house.

Investigators believe that it was the husband who stabbed the woman to death, then took his own life. The case is being treated as a murder/suicide.

Relatives have been quoted as saying that the couple shared a rocky relationship, but the woman stayed with her husband although the relationship became abusive.

Stacy Singh migrated from Guyana just over 5 years ago. She was originally from the Mahaicony area. The probe continues in New York.
