A Guyanese woman who was shot multiple times in Norfolk, Virginia back in October, has died.

The young woman has been identified as 33-year-old Naminatha Henry passed away overnight in hospital, where she has been since the October incident.

According to reports, the woman had just dropped a friend home after a girl’s night out at the club and was driving out of the area when the friend heard several gunshots.

The friend, Suzanne Hing, told investigators and the media in Norfolk that she was already in her house when she heard the gunshots shortly after her friend drove off.

She said she called Henry’s phone immediately to find out if she had heard the shots also and it was then that she realised that it was the same friend who was shot.

“I grabbed my phone to ask her if she heard the shots,” she said. “It wasn’t until after three or four minutes that she called me and told me she couldn’t breathe.”

The shooting appears to have happened as the victim was in her car, trying to leave the neighbourhood. Hing said she heard five shots.

There are no reports of any suspects being arrested.

The woman and her husband migrated to the US from Guyana several years ago. The man is said to be devastated by the incident.
