A suspected drug addict, who would do odd jobs outside the old GNCB building at Stabroek, ran and surrendered to the Police early Monday morning after stabbing another man to death during an argument.
According to vendors, who were close by, the two men started an argument but were mostly ignored until it escalated and became a fist fight. During the fight, one of the men pulled out a knife from his waist and stabbed the other man to death.
After persons in the area decided to effect a citizens arrest, the assailant ran straight to the Brickdam Police station as persons chased behind him and he surrendered to the Police.
The dead man was identified as Dexter Arthur. His last known address was Pouderoyen on the West Bank of Demerara.
Persons who frequent the area said both men appeared to be drug addicts and worked in the area doing various handyman duties for stall holders and other persons.
An investigation is underway.
