KFC branches, Pizza Hut closed over sanitary condition

Customers were turned away from the KFC and Pizza Hut branches on Vlissengen Road and the KFC Stabroek Market location in Georgetown on Tuesday as the food outlets were shut down for “maintenance”.

Reports indicate however, that a senior official from the KFC Regional Branch flew into Guyana to inspect the local branches and was shocked at the conditions of the local outlets and immediately ordered their closure. There were reportedly several sanitary breaches in the kitchen departments and food preparation and storage areas at the outlets.

Employees were not given much information but were reportedly told by management to close the doors, end all the day sales and begin cleaning up the kitchen area.

News Source made repeated efforts to contact the management at DIDCO Limited which serves as the local franchise holders for the two fast food chains. All calls went unanswered.
