A 42-year-old businesswoman from Amelia’s Ward, Linden was arrested early this morning after Police investigators found three 9mm pistols with nine .32 rounds of ammunition, as well as marijuana leaves, seeds and stems.
A 36-year-old driver was also arrested.
In a statement, the Police said its ranks visited a residence in Central Amelia’s Ward based on information received and during a search of a motor lorry that was parked at the residence, the ranks found a haversack behind the driver’s seat containing several parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
According to the Police, further checks led to the discovery of the three guns and ammunition, leading to the arrest of the businesswoman.
A 36-year-old male driver of Bamia, Soesdyke-Linden Highway was arrested at his residence as the Police investigations continued.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
