Police investigators are probing the death of 23-year-old taxi driver Andrew Budsburg whose charred remains were found in his burnt car at Hope Estate Road, East Coast Demerara.

Based on eyewitness accounts, police investigators appear convinced that the young man committed suicide.

According to reports, the man was spotted just before 12 noon on Saturday pouring a liquid all over his car. He was also spotted dousing himself in a liquid believed to be gasoline. It is believed that he then drove to the desolate Hope Estate area.

Moments later, persons saw a ball of flames engulf the car as the man remained inside. The fire service was called to the scene but firemen were unable to rescue the 23 year old who was already burnt to death by the time the firemen were called.

Friends of the man have said that he may have been going through some depression over some recent incidents in his life.  The investigations are ongoing.
