An elderly man who was found dead in the Toucan Mall pool in Linden this morning appeared to have suffered a medical episode that led to his drowning.
The 67-year-old man, who worked at the facility as a maintenance man, has been identified as Henry Gardener. The facility is owned by his relatives.
A surveillance video recording of the pool area caught the man on camera jumping into the empty pool just before 10pm on Monday.
He was seen swimming to the other end of the pool. However, on his return, he could be seen struggling to stay afloat in the water and eventually going under water.
His body was discovered by one of his relatives who went in search of him at the facility after he was not seen in his living quarters this morning.
