A route 42 minibus driver, Travis David, will be spending the next 56 months in jail after he was found guilty of causing the death of a woman by dangerous driving.

The woman was a passenger in the minibus that was being  driven by 28-year-old Travis David, when he lost control and slammed into a power pole.  The man was driving at a fast rate

The incident took place back in January, 2016. During the trial, the Court heard that David was driving Minibus BSS 947, in a manner thats was dangerous to the Public, and caused the death of Lynette Joseph.

In handing down the verdict and sentence, Magistrate Judy Latchman, mentioned that based on the evidence provided during the course of the trial, it was proven that on the the day in question, David was driving at an “extraordinary” speed and lost control of the vehicle.

In addition, the Magistrate told the court that the driver  also fell below the competence level of a careful driver and he failed to exercise care, caution, consideration, common sense and courtesy while using the roadway.

The young man was taken into custody just after the Magistrate handed down the sentence. His Attorney has indicated a move to appeal the verdict.
