An investigation has been launched into the death of a Parika taxi driver whose body was found yesterday on the West Coast of Berbice, close to a week after he was reported missing.
Police investigators have confirmed that the body of Shurland Dalloo was found early yesterday morning in a canal in the Onverwagt backdam area.
The man appeared to have been beaten to death since there were several marks to his head and face. A group of farmers hunters in the area made the discovery.
The 33 year old man was not heard from since last Monday when he left the Parika area with a passenger, heading to the city.
Family members have identified the body as they remain in shock over the murder. Guyana has recorded over 100 murders for this year.
