Motorcyclist dies in Essequibo Coast smash-up

A 35-year old motorcyclist has become the country’s latest road accident victim following a smash-up on the Essequibo Coast.

The man, Suresh Arjune of Adventure, Essequibo Coast, was riding his motorcycle at around 8:50 pm on Sunday when he slammed into a car that was making a turn.

Investigations have so far revealed that the motorcyclist was riding at a fast rate with the lights of the motorcycle turned off.

The impact pitched the motorcyclist onto the roadway and he was picked up and rushed to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He sustained several injuries to his head and upper body.

The 27-year-old driver of the car has been taken into custody. A breathalyzer test was conducted on him and he was found to be “exceedingly” above the alcohol level limit. He is assisting with the investigation.
