Motorcyclist dies after hit down by drunk driver at Friendship ECD

Police investigators are probing a Saturday night accident that has left a 25-year-old motorcyclist dead.

The dead motorcyclist has been identified as Oliver Collins.

The young man from Friendship on the East Coast Demerara, was riding his motorcycle along the Friendship embankment road when he was hit down by a car that crossed over into his lane.

The 22-year-old driver of the car was found to be heavily intoxicated. A breathalyzer test conducted on the car driver, revealed the level of alcohol in his system to be extremely high.

When the car slammed into the motorcyclist, it pitched him onto the roadway, resulting in multiple injuries to his head and body. He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The drunk car driver will face charges this week.
