A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 21-year-old murdered businessman, Amit Singh, listed the cause of death to be blunt trauma to the head, neck and face.

Based on the findings of the post-mortem examination, it was confirmed that the youth was savagely beaten to death. His body was found wrapped in a sheet at an empty Middle Road, La Penitence house last Tuesday.

Singh had gone to the house with his friend, Yogeendra Sukhdeo to purchase a large quantity of gold for his gold trading business. However, according to a Police report, he was attacked, robbed of his money and badly beaten until he stopped breathing.

The house where his body was found, is owned by the family of his friend Yogeendra Sukhdeo. Police investigators arrested Sukhdeo in connection with the murder, and he later led investigators to his Diamond, East Bank Demerara home, after reportedly confessing to the crime. At his home, investigators found just over $7.7 million that they believe belonged to the dead businessman, Amit Singh.

Three other men were arrested in connection with the murder. However, while they admitted that they were employees of Yogeendra Sukhdeo, they denied any involvement in the murder.

As the family of the businessman prepare for his funeral on Wednesday, the family of the main suspect has dispatched a letter of condolences to the grieving family.
