An arcade vendor died on Thursday night as a result of a drive-by shooting in the Warlock community in East Ruimveldt.
The dead man has been identified as 30-year-old Andrew Fraser aka “Zeggy” (seen in photo above). The other man, who was inured, was identified as Junior Abrams.
The dead man, who was a vendor in the Water Street arcade, had reportedly just left his East Ruimveldt home, when he was shot.
Family suspect that he may have been shot mistakenly or may have found himself in the firing line.
At the Georgetown Hospital, the dead man’s mother, Jean Adams, told News Source that she had just spoken with him and he told her that he was heading out of the house to get something to eat.
She said he was booked to leave the country on Saturday to shop items for his clothing store. The shocked woman said moments after her son left the house, she heard the loud explosions but was not sure that they were gunshots. She said moments later, another son came running to her with the grim news.
Ms. Adams described her son as a hard-working young man, who did not have any known problem with anyone. She said he spoke often about buying a car and building a house before starting a family.
“He loved children and was very hardworking and caring”, she recalled.
Assistant Police Commissioner and A’ Division Commander, Clifton Hicken, told News Source tonight that investigators were on the scene questioning possible eyewitnesses. Persons in the area said they heard as many as six gunshots.
Mr. Hicken said based on initial reports, the two persons were shot by occupants of a white motor car sped through the community just after 8:00pm. He said it is believed that the car may have had as many as four occupants.
An all station alert has been issued and investigators are on the hunt for the gunmen.
