Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo has compiled is preparing to present his third list of nominees to President David Granger for the Guyana Elections Commission Chairmanship job.
Mr. Jagdeo told the media today that he currently has a list of 10 names and is in the processing of contacting those candidates.
He said the list of names was provided to him during consultations with several organisations and he is working to reduce the names to the required six.
Mr. Jagdeo said he intends to get the best pool of persons for the President to make his selection. The Opposition Leader could not say how soon he will have the final list of nominees ready to send to the President.
He explained that some of the nominees requested time to speak to family members and consider the offer.
Jagdeo claimed too that following the rejection of the two previous lists by President David Granger, persons who could make up the new list appear fearful of the public humiliation of being rejected.
The second list comprised retired justices BS Roy and William Ramlal, attorneys Oneidge Walrond-Allicock, Nadia Sagar and Kashir Khan and businessman Gerry Gouveia.
The first list was made up of chartered accountant Christopher Ram, governance specialist Lawrence Lachmansingh, business executives Ramesh Dookhoo and Norman McLean, author Ryhaan Shah and historian, Professor James Rose.
President Granger declared both lists as unacceptable.
