President David Granger has confirmed that he has received the curriculum vitae for the six persons nominated for the GECOM Chairmanship position and he is currently studying the documents.
Speaking briefly with News Source over the weekend, the President did not offer any commitment to a timeline by which he would make a decision about the GECOM chairmanship.
“I have received the CVs and I am studying them. I am studying them carefully”, he said.
It was two weeks ago, that Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo, submitted the new list of nominees for the GECOM top job. His previous list was rejected by the President.
Mr. Jagdeo said he came up with the new list following widespread consultations with several organisations and groups.
The six nominees on the new list, which is currently engaging the attention of the President, are retired Justice of Appeal B.S Roy, retired Justice William Ramlall, Attorney and former Magistrate, Oneidge Walrond-Allicock, Attorneys Kashir Khan and Nadia Sagar along with businessman and pilot, Captain Gerry Gouveia.
