Several parts of the Lethem trail between the villages of Yakarinta and Massara, are under water following late night showers on Tuesday. Residents and persons traversing the area woke up to the flooded streets and fields on Wednesday morning.

According to reports out of the area, a creek in the area became swollen following heavy showers over the past two days.

Additionally, there was a rush of water from the mountains in the area and the force of the water broke a recently built culvert and all of the water from the creek rushed onto the trail and flooded nearby communities.

A resident in the area explained that the culvert which was built was just “too small” to deal with the heavy rainfall and the overflowing creek and the rushing waters from the mountain tops.
