A 42-year-old man who has been identified Hardat Kissoon was shot dead in a Route 44 mini-bus by a fellow passenger during an apparent robbery this afternoon.

News Source understands that the man boarded the bus at the Route 44 park in Georgetown and was heading to the East Coast of Demerara when a passenger in the back seat of the bus, shot him at close range, grabbed a bag he was carrying and threw it out the window to another man on a waiting motorcycle.

The police reports that the gunman held the Kissoon up at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over the bag before he shot him during a scuffle.

The gun touting assailant reportedly hurried out of the bus of screaming passengers and made good his escape on the motorcycle along with his accomplice.

It is unclear what the man was carrying in the bag but police believe he may have been followed by the gunman.

Investigations are ongoing.
