Police investigators are probing the Sunday night murder of a pastry vendor at Onderneeming Sandpit on the Essequibo Coast.
The 39-year-old man, identified as Dexter Prince aka Rasta, was selling pastries from the back of a mini-bus along with another man when they were attacked by two bandits.
One of the bandits opened fire during the robbery, shooting Dexter Prince to the head.
He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The two bandits were able to make good their escape and a full investigation into the incident has been launched.
Persons in the area have been complaining about an increase in robberies and other criminal attacks in the past month.
