PNC says reports of motion for MPs recall is full “fabrication”

The People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R) has rubbished reports that a motion was submitted to recall four of its Members of Parliament.

An online news agency on Sunday reported that the party was meeting to discuss the recall of a number of Members of Parliament including Mr. Joe Harmon and three others— Natasha Singh-Lewis, Ganesh Mahipaul, and Nima Flu-Bess.

But the PNC in a statement this afternoon called the statement a “fabrication” and said it has not discussed any such matter

“The PNCR wishes to inform its members and the general public that the Party has not discussed or identified a list of MPs to be recalled from the National Assembly. The reports in certain sections of the news media that a motion from its Party in Region #5 calling for the removal of four of its MPs are a total fabrication,” The PNC said.

According to the party, contrary to the reports that a motion was submitted by the party’s Region #5 leadership for the removal of the MPs, no such motion was presented or discussed during the party’s CEC meeting today.

However, a well-placed party source has explained that there are talks within the party to have Mr. Harmon resign as a parliamentarian and make way for Mr. Norton to become the next Opposition Leader.

Mr. Harmon has resigned as Opposition Leader last week, which now leaves the position vacant. However, the PNC has insisted that its leader, Aubrey Norton should go to parliament and be the Opposition Leader.
