Police confirm finding human remains suspected to be those of wanted man; Weapons and toy guns also found

The Guyana Police Force today confirmed that investigators found human remains and a number of firearms and toy guns during their search of a hideout area at Three Miles, Wisroc in Linden, where it is believed wanted man, Jamal Bourne, fatally shot himself while playing around with a gun.

The Police said it conducted further investigations at the area on Wednesday, one day after initially locating the area and arresting six suspects.

During Wednesday’s operations, the Police said a burnt area was examined and suspected burnt human remains, including ashes and bones, were discovered and secured for forensic analysis.

Further searches at a nearby wooden structure resulted in the discovery of a suspected pistol with an empty magazine, three shotgun cartridges, a suspected spent 9mm shell, knives, clothing and other items. The Police said three toy rifles were also found in nearby bushes.

The suspected remains will be presented to a Government Pathologist for examination, the Police said.

The investigation was launched after the wanted man was seen on a video stream with another man playing around with a gun before placing it to his head and fatally shooting himself, accidentally.

It is suspected that the other persons who were hiding out with him burnt his body. Two women are among the six persons in custody.
