A crab hunting exercise by a doctor and a group of friends came to an early end on Sunday afternoon after the group stumbled upon human skeletal remains.

The 27-year-old doctor called in the Police after the group first came into contact with the skull and later discovered other bones along the seashore at Sister’s Village on the West Bank of Demerara.

Police investigators visited the scene early on Monday morning and discovered a number of other bones. There was nothing found that could lead to the identity of the remains.

However, investigators are looking at a number of reports of missing persons, including from neighbouring countries.

The Guyana Police Force today said forensic examinations will be conducted on the remains found.
