The Guyana Police Force broke its silence this morning on the viral video of a female Special Police Constable being forcibly removed from a location by a group of her colleagues.
The incident reportedly took place back in January, but there was no mention of it by the Police until the video recording of the incident was shared on social media.
The video which shows the female Constable being pushed and forcibly removed from a compound has been broadly criticized across social media.
In a statement today, the Police Force explained that the Special Constable was instructed that she was being moved from the location to the Headquarters of the Police Constabulary.
The Police Force claims that she refused the transfer and continued to show up at the location to conduct duties. According to the statement on the day that other ranks were called in to assist in her removal, the female Constable threw herself to the ground and resisted the efforts to move her.
The Force said an evaluation was performed on the rank by external authorities who have since submitted a clearance report to the Commissioner of Police (Acting) which notes that she is only fit to work during the day.
The real ease notes that arrangements are underway for the Force Psychologist to meet with the rank and for a psycho-social analysis to be done.
News Source understands that the female Police Constable has not been reporting to work since the incident, but has submitted a number of sick leave certificates. The matter remains under probe.
