Police Constable in custody over murder of missing Cuban woman

The search for a missing Cuban woman ended on Wednesday with the discovery of her partly decomposed body in a clump of bushes along the East Coast of Demerara. A Police Constable has since been arrested for the woman’s murder.

The dead woman has been identified as Dailen Paneque Gomez. She was reported missing last Thursday after leaving home for work, but never arriving at her place of employment.

The Police in a statement last evening said she was last seen alive in the early morning hours of Thursday 18th June, 2026 while on her way to work.

The body was discovered last evening as Police investigators widened their search across the East Coast of Demerara.

The statement from the Police confirmed that a Police Constable has been arrested and is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.

Investigations are still ongoing.
