Husband and wife wanted for murder of Police Constable

An East Coast Demerara husband and wife who are believed to be hiding out in the United States, are wanted for the murder of Police Constable, Quincy Lewis.

In a statement this morning the Police Force issued the bulletins for 56-year-old Thakurdial Samaroo and his wife Naqeeba Zahid Zafarali.

The last known address for the pair has been listed as Ogle Front Road, East Coast Demerara. There are reports that the couple bolted from Guyana over a year ago after the Police began closing in on them as suspects.

The Policeman who was known to the wife, according to reports, is believed to have been lured to a house on the East Bank of Demerara on the 19th June, 2020, where he was shot dead.

Investigators suspect that his body was later removed and taken to a sandpit area at Madewini along the highway to be buried. It was at Madewini that the Police discovered the skeletal remains yesterday that it believes belong to the Policeman.

Two persons who provided details about the burial site and the man’s murder were taken into custody by the Police and have been providing additional information, Police sources have revealed.

The Policeman, Quincy Lewis, was last seen leaving his home and boarding a car on his way to work. There were also reports at the time of his disappearance that he was spotted heading into the Greenfield area on the East Bank of Demerara.

After he was reported missing by his family, his phone was traced to a location at Timehri. However, it was found badly damaged.

Police officials have indicated to News Source that once it is confirmed that the wanted couple is hiding out in the US, efforts will be made to have them extradited.
