A Police Corporal who is based in the Berbice area and another man have landed themselves in trouble with the law after being busted with more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a car.
The two were traveling in the car along Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt in Georgetown when acting on information, a party of Police Officers pulled them over and conducted a search of the vehicle.
In the trunk of the car, several large tightly wrapped packages of the marijuana were found.
The policeman, who was in uniform at the time, and the other man were immediately arrested and have been facing questioning since.
Both are likely to be charged before the end of this week.
Just last week a Coast Guard officer who was also based in Berbice, was busted here in Georgetown with a large quantity of marijuana in the trunk of the car that he was driving.
He was arrested and charged along with another man who was in the same car.
