The Guyana Police Force has recognised the work of one of its sergeants who is a Police Instructor by naming Best Cop in the Guyana Police Force.

32-year-old Sergeant Gladwin Hanover was awarded the top award on Wednesday for not only his training work in the Guyana Police Force but also for his work with communities across the Essequibo.

Hanover is an instructor at the Police Training School in Essequibo and is also in charge of the Computer Training Centre where the Force is offering computer classes to members of the community.

“We have trained since 2013 to date in excess of 2,700 persons in areas of foundation, advanced and repairs and maintenance. We have also offered free transportation,” the young officer told the press.

He said more than 700 persons have completed training classes at the community centre and they are drawn from communities across the Essequibo.

The police sergeant said he enjoys working with young people “and I try to live a life that is pleasing to them,” he said.

He said he feels privileged to be recognised for his hard work over the years.

He advised his colleagues to apply determination, dedication, and discipline in their work with the force. “With those three D’s you can’t go wrong in the Guyana Police Force.”

Several other Police Officers were awarded for their work over the past year including Immigration Officer Towana Crandon Primo, who was credited with picking up the forged documents that were being presented by a man who is wanted in Canada.
