A search is underway in the Toroparu Backdam in the Lower Puruni river area in Region Seven where a miner has been missing for the past ten days.

In a statement today, the Guyana Police Force announced that it is investigating the disappearance of 27-year-old miner Noel Anthony Fredericks.

The man who is originally from Mainstay village, Essequibo was last seen on the 15th April leaving a shop in an intoxicated state while in the company of another man.

The Guyana Police Force said the missing miner who is an Amerindian, was last seen clad in a pair of blue jeans and a white tee-shirt.

He has long black hair and is medium built and fair in complexion. Police investigators in the area have been backed up with additional ranks in search of the missing miner.

A full investigation and search are underway. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the missing man is asked to contact the nearest Police station or call 911.
