Family of missing pilot and loader launch private search effort

Family members of the missing Air Services pilot Nicky Persaud and cargo loader David Bisnauth are not giving up hope that they could still find their remains and bring the two men home.

The two have been presumed dead after theirĀ Britten Norman Islander aircraft bearing registration 8R-GHE disappeared without a trace while it was heading to Karisparu from Mahdia in Region Eight on December 28, 2014.

Widespread searches were conducted by a Guyana Civil Aviation and Guyana Defence Force team for three weeks. Those searches from the air and on the ground were eventually called off back in January as the authorities lost all hope.

Family members of the two men however, are not giving up that easy and are planning several new search efforts on their own into the area where it is believed the plane may have crashed.

The families of the two men have launched a website (www.gymissingaircraft.com) and a Facebook page to raise funds for the search efforts.

A billboard has also been erected on Main Street in Georgetown as the family seeks to enlist the support of the public. Persons desirous of offering assistance could do so by calling telephone numbers 624-8257, 624-3298 or 231-5661.

A number of groups are expected to move into the area and carry out detailed ground searches. They have been receiving donations of equipment to assist them with the search efforts.

Well known Rainforest Tours Operator Frank Singh is expected to lead the new search efforts. He is also the father in law of the missing pilot. Many supporters of the drive say all the family needs right now is closure and they are prepared to find that closure by themselves.
