The search for the three missing fishermen and their vessel has been suspended by the Government after four weeks of searches turning up empty-handed.

Minister of Works, Bishop Juan Edghill announced the suspension on Monday while indicating that the authorities will remain alert.

“At this point, I don’t know what else I can do in terms of search. It is a tough decision but we will have to suspend the search and go into a new phase of being on the alert while we continue to traverse the areas, praying that we find something”, Minister Edghill said.

Edghill met on Monday with family members of the three missing fishermen and the lone survivor of the tragedy.

Many of the family members are still holding out hope as they seek answers. On Sunday, the mother of the missing Captain of the vessel spoke to News Source and said although it has been four weeks since her son went missing, she still wants closure.

“I am not getting the feeling as yet that he has died, but I need answers and I need answers. It is not the Bermuda triangle out there, everything can’t just disappear. I need answers and I want my son to be found”, the mother Faye Damon told News Source.

She said the Noble House Seafood company has also not been reaching out to family members and she is very disappointed by that.

Ms. Damon said her son has been working in the fishing industry for over 20 years and she still cannot believe that he has been snatched from her and his family.

The lone survivor has provided details of the mishap at sea which resulted in the sinking of the fishing vessel and the Captain and two other fishermen going missing. The survivor said he held onto to a rafter after being thrown overboard while the boat sank. He was rescued by a group of other fishermen the same day.
