Police probing attempted execution of businessman in Campbellville; Hitman was dressed in bright yellow raincoat

Police investigators are probing the attempted execution of a Georgetown businessman on Thursday night. The businessman, Safraz Khan was sitting in his car at Austin’s Place in Campbellville when he came under heavy gunfire from a gunman who was dressed in yellow hooded raincoat.

A barrage of gunfire was heard in the area just before 8 o’ clock on Thursday night. The businessman who is a licensed firearm holder, reportedly returned fire when he came under attack. However, he was hit multiple times to the body.

A surveillance video recording from a nearby property captured the raincoat wearing gunman running away from the scene and hopping into a grey heavily tinted Toyota motorcar that sped away from the scene.

The injured Safraz Khan was rushed to a city hospital, where emergency doctors hurried him into surgery. He remains hospitalised, according to reports.

A motive for the attack is unknown.

Five years ago, Khan found himself before the Courts after he fired several gunshots in the air outside the Palm Court restaurant during a night of partying. His brother, Imran Khan, was also no stranger to law enforcement and once faced an attempted murder charge over the beating of a disabled man outside a city bar.

Police investigators are continuing their probe into last evening’s attempted execution in Campbellville.
