Police probing attempted execution of Tucville man by motorcycle riding gunmen

Police investigators have launched a probe into the attempted execution of 36-year-old Tucville, Georgetown resident, Winston Hazel.

The man was shot multiple times to his body on Tuesday night just as he drove up to the entrance to his yard.

According to a Police report, the incident took place just after 7pm. Hazel was driving his motorcar and was about to drive into his yard when two men who were on a motorcycle a short distance away from the house, hopped off of the bike and opened fire on the car.

Hazel reportedly jumped out of his car and ran into his yard, but was hit multiple times to the body as he called out for his family.

The two gunmen then hopped back on to their motorcycle and sped away from the scene, leaving the injured man behind. The Police said Hazel was shot 12 times, but survived.

He was rushed to a private hospital and then across to the Georgetown Hospital, where doctors hurried him into surgery and managed to stabilize him.

The Police said when its investigators visited the scene of the shooting, they discovered several bullet holes to the car. Investigators were able to recover seven 9mm spent shells along with one live 9mm ammunition.

Today, investigators spent the day going through surveillance video recordings from the area that might have captured the shooting incident.

The victim, Winston Hazel, remains in a critical condition. There are several questions being asked about the attempted execution.

In March 2022, Hazel was arrested with another man and charged for drug trafficking after 12 pounds of cocaine was found in their possession. He was initially denied bail and remanded to prison on the charges, but was later granted bail.

His drug trafficking trial is set to begin on the 1st March.

Last week, another man who was facing drug trafficking charges in a different case, was executed outside a wake house in North Ruimveldt. The investigations into his murder are ongoing.
