Police investigators on the East Coast Demerara are probing the death of a 55-year-old fisherman, whose body was found in his fishing boat at the Unity Village Koker on the East Coast of Demerara on Monday afternoon.
The fisherman was identified as Stephen Ragbeer of Lancaster, East Coast Demerara. The Police said there were no marks of violence discovered on his body.
According to reports, Ragbeer was at home when he was contacted by someone who informed him that his fishing boat was taking in water at the Koker Dam, where he had docked it. He reportedly left his home to check on the boat.
However, at around 4pm on Monday, the Police were contacted about a man’s motionless body in a boat. Investigating ranks visited the scene and found Ragbeer’s body inside the boat. He was taken to the Enmore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
With no marks of violence noticed on the body, investigators have requested a post-mortem examination to confirm a cause of death. A full probe is underway.
