Police officers had been tipped off that there was a major drug transaction taking place at the hotel.

When the police arrived and attempted to arrest the suspects, gunfire erupted and that forced the officers to run for cover, while returning fire.

One of the suspects was shot and later succumbed at the Georgetown Hospital. Over 10 pounds of cocaine was seized as the police took control of the situation and arrested the other suspects.  Firearms were also recovered and one of those firearms is reportedly linked to a private security company that operates mainly in the mining areas.
