A policeman who was caught on camera kicking a man to the head as the man laid on the road during an arrest, has been himself arrested and is now under investigation by the Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

The name of the Policeman has not been released, but in a statement this afternoon, the Guyana Police Force said it was made aware of the video of the incident circulating on social media and an investigation was launched immediately.

According to the Police, the rank is presently under arrest as the investigation continues.

The Policeman was with a group of other Policemen when the incident occurred. He was observed walking towards the man who was lying on the road with his hands outstretched above his head. As the Policeman approached the man, he was observed kicking him directly to the head.

He could face assault charges before the end of the week.
