The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit has announced that as it continues to probe the discovery of close to 20 pounds of cocaine in frozen fish, it has released the porters who were held as part of the probe.
However, the person listed as the shipper of the cocaine laden fish shipment, remains in custody. Six porters and the shipper were initially held as part of the investigations.
The cocaine was discovered earlier this week at the Cheddi Jagan Airport, in a shipment of frozen fish that was being prepared for export to the US.
When agents busted the shipment, they found long cylinder like packages of the illegal substance. The shipment has reportedly been traced to a fish company on the West Demerara.
Other persons are being sought for questioning as part of the probe.
