With a red sea of supporters cheering him on, Prime Minister Mark Phillips on Sunday afternoon encouraged voters to throw their support behind the People’s Progressive Party Civic to continue the work it has started over the past five years.
Phillips, who is the PPPC’s Prime Ministerial Candidate, told cheering supporters that there could be no denying that every community and region across Guyana has benefitted from the development works of the PPP Civic Government.
“Five years ago comrades, I stood here and I asked if you were ready for victory, and you said yes, so I want you to shout again and let the other side hear yes”, Phillips said.
The retired Military Chief encouraged party supporters to be serious and focused as election day approaches. In encouraging voters to throw their support behind the governing party, Prime Minister Phillips said the PPP has fulfilled all of its 2020 manifesto promises and is now ready to turn the page and continue the work.
“Together, we worked and we developed this country for the last five years and you know when you look at the PPPC and its representation, as I have said before, you see all the colours of Guyana and all the races of Guyana. This is a national party and a multi-ethnic party with all the people and all the people are included”, he said.
The Prime Minister said the PPP continues to be a party that is supportive of youths and remains interested in their future. He said the country will continue to see young people in the leadership of the PPP.
He said the PPP has grown over the past five years and will continue to grow, declaring that the “red army” is larger that ever before.
Phillips chided the opposing parties as “deadweight”, “light weight” and “lose and win” and stated that that they will be no match for the PPP at the September 1 elections.
The Prime Minister declared that he is fully with the PPP and fully backing red, and will “remain red until I dead”.
